The verdict
BolehJason gives an unfiltered review of 54200 Breakfast, a McDonald's-style breakfast spot in Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur. The big breakfast's bread is too soft and the streaky beef tastes processed, while the chicken & egg burger turns spongy and mushy; the classic pancake and the generously filled pulled beef brioche are the better picks. His final verdict is 6.8 — good as a convenient neighbourhood spot, but not worth crossing two tolls for.
Highlights
- Price: Classic pancake is RM10; prices are low enough to close one eye on some flaws, but not the bread
- Taste: Bread too soft with no bakar or butter flavour; streaky beef tastes like uncharred pepperoni — processed; pancake is fragrant and moist with pan-sear notes; chicken patty is spongy and mushy; pulled beef is generous but tastes like chilli sardine with onion sweetness
- Ambiance: Smelled of sweet caramel when walking in; feels like a convenient neighbourhood breakfast spot
- Other: Deliberately unfiltered ratings going against the trend of overly positive reviews; only worth it if you live nearby, not across two tolls

This is a lot of aisle. I saw a post that they're selling something like McDay breakfast. This place is called 54200 Breakfast. Going from 7.30pm to 11.38pm, World End, Episode 2. Big breakfast on the streaky beef. This is my style of eating. Ho ho ho ho. It's sad that the bread is very soft. I don't feel the bakar and I don't really feel the butter, besides the slight saltiness. The streaky beef feels like pepperoni pizza that's not charred, smooth and dense inside. I'm not getting any meatiness, it's just processed. Okay, I think that sausage is the better one here, hash brown. I like the hash brown. Then again, I like a lot of store-bought hash browns also. For these prices, I can close one eye on a lot of things, but not the bread. That one is a deal-breaker. I'm giving this a 6. Classic pancake for RM10. I think this is the right amount. Maple syrup, I think. Ah ho ho ho. This is what the smell was when I was walking in their restaurant. Not the caramel that's burnt, it's sweetened caramel. I rasa they should give a little more of the syrup. Even without the drizzle and the topping, it's still fragrant, moist. You get to feel the pan sear still. But I feel corridor is levels above this one, at the same price. 6.8, chicken and egg. Some things doesn't sit right with me. It's a savory bite, but things have to fall apart when you're patty. Very spongy. You bite it, it becomes mushy. Like the bun is not buttered. This is like your blind date. At first, you see it's so nice, thick and juicy. The more and more you get to know the burger, find its flaws. 5.5. Pulled beef brioche. Don't you just love the feeling of pulled beef instead of means being meaty, generous, and it tastes like a mouthful of chilli sardine with some onion sweetness. The brioche is here just to hold the beef together, not buttery or fluffy. It tastes like plain bun. Look at the back. Did they finish their whole stock of pulled beef on my order or what? So many. Bro, is it too much? Do you see how much it is? It's big, right? If you need to hit your daily protein intake, this might be the way to go. Is it worth it for me to wake up early in the morning to try this? If I live next door here, maybe. But if I have to go through two tolls, I think this is good as a convenient neighbourhood spot. 6.8.
