The verdict

Boleh

Jason was underwhelmed by Artbox Sunway, finding the food the same as three years ago and too much unused space. The jempedak was a letdown for RM25, though the hammock seating by the stage was a nice touch. He wishes there were more local creations and actual performances.

Highlights

  • Price: RM25 for 10-piece jempedak, RM15 sausage with nachos
  • Taste: Jempedak not hot, sausage spongy; food same as three years back
  • Ambiance: Crowded, lots of unused space, chill hammocks in front of the stage
  • Other: Free entry, gachapon machine crowd magnet, last weekend of the year

What even is Artbox? A free entry event honouring this. Before going I searched for Artbox to see what I can expect on that open car park space in Sunway. Heavenly Delights! Got Jempedak, something my girlfriend liked, confirmed we grabbed one. Sausage sizzle looked very appetising, we were hungry. My girlfriend has 3 words for this 25 ringgit for 10 piece jempedak. It's not hot! And I don't think I've ever seen myself with this face. It's so meatface. This 15 ringgit sausage with nachos was spongier than this. Anyway, we were running out of cash and belly space. The food I saw here is the same shit I saw 3 years back. It's similar to our local Thai festivals. And they have a lot of unused space. I think this sums up the shopping here. If you're lucky enough to see a barrel that has no trash on it, run for it bestie. They have other type of seats but it's crowded. My favourite is the hammock is chill and right in front of the stage which brings me to the next point. There were no performances when I was there so I'll just let you hear the music they played at the event. Pieces of Eden in Artwork. I personally wish to see more local creations because right now there's a lot of boxes but not a lot of art. You know what? Food is also art and these cute little things. Take a chance and be rewarded. This was the most crowded spot, I don't really know why but they have this gachapon machine which I think has something to do with this. Was I the only one underwhelmed? What was your experience? Is it your first time? Let me know. This weekend is the last week for the year.
