A solid Ramadan bazaar crawl with some standout popiah and a refreshing keladi drink, but the bomboloni and apam balik were letdowns. The popiah basah at 7.8 is the pick of the night. Worth a visit for the unique bazaar-only flavours.

Highlights

  • Price: Multiple snacks and drinks shared between two people
  • Taste: Crunchy chempedak and popiah shine; bomboloni filling disappoints

I'm here at Bazaar Ramadan SS6. I heard the popiah here slaps, but first I have to get some chempadat. And it's looking very fleshy. I'm getting a bit hungry watching this. Apadat ma pui! Wearing Costume Minis heat, respet. I've only ever tried one bombo loni from Sugar and I, so I'm getting it here. Looks like it's gonna be very sweet. This is why I like Bazaar Ramadan, they have unique flavours like this, apan balik with nestum flavour. The long queue means it could be very good right? He says yes! They made it very fast, so we only had to wait a few minutes. Speaking of queue, the popiah had the longest on, but we waited only 6 minutes. Should be lah because they have a lot prepared already. There was three different types, one was sold out so I could only get two. The next shop sells drinks and apparently kalau tak sedap, pulang balik. Betul ke? Guaranty sedap eh? Guaranty sedap! Tak sedap, datang sini pulang balik. Wow! Got a few Thai inspired drinks here but my girlfriend's favour is chocolate hazelnut. And then we got a drink from Ayu Abang Sado. That is him serving the drinks. We got this one Keladi Man. This chempadat is very crunchy. Chempadat texture is like durian mixed with jackfruit. The flesh is very thick and a bit hard to swallow. The flavour is very strong. The skin is very crispy. And the sweetness just nice, 7.7. Okay, fluffy bomboloni nutella flavour. You know, the dough is not fresh. You mostly will taste the sugar coat at the top. And the filling inside does not taste like nutella at all. 2 out of 10. The essence of a pound balik is soggy but I think we waited too long. Agi 2. The taste reminds me of a core childhood memory. This tastes like honey star. Hmm! It tastes like honey star, yeah. I like the taste but I think they put a bit too much sugar. 6 out of 10. This is the popiah basah. Hype ke swipe? It's like eating rojak in the popiah. And Macham got a bit of satay peanut sauce taste. 7.8. This is the popiah besira. Popiahlicious! Skin is crunchy and it tastes like the sambal potato chip. It tastes so soft. Spicy crispy outer layer with some sweetness and a refreshing sungkwang deserves an aim. For drinks, we got Keladi Mantap. And I was surprised this one was refreshing and got that creamy Keladi flavour. 7.2. If you don't eat it, go back! Finally the chocolate hazelnut. I'm going to get my money back. You're going to get your money back? I'm going to get my money back. You're going to get your money back.
