Chef Ammar has challenged me to re-review his lamb shank. Context, Chef Ammar aka best king of lamb shank in town, I don't know self-proclaimed or not, caught a lot of heat long ago from a video he responded to by doing this because that person also tried to claim that title. Fast forward to this year during Ramadan, I went to one of the bazaar in Shah Alam wanting to try his famous lamb shank, that's what he's known for my ride and I gave it a 6.2. Surprisingly, he responded with a very positive, I don't know if it's PR, thank you for your review, appreciate your support. Shortly after he sent me a DM, we exchanged conversations and it went along the lines of him wanting me to review his lamb shank again but this time in his restaurant. Obvious reasons, it'll be fresher, he has more control over it, it should taste better right? So I was totally fine with it on one condition and that is I have to be honest, yeah, and then he said you can be honest. We'll see about that lah, this is the one. It's the first time I'll be meeting Chef Ammar in person. Everything I say will be honest lah. The truth, nothing else but the truth. If I give low rating also okay ah? I 3 Maridah, I didn't think so you're going to give low rating. I know you have a good ballot and I know you'll be fair with me. He brought me to the kitchen to check out his new rice. It's very clean. Oh thank you sir. You sure you didn't just clean this for me right? It's always like this? Uh no. And there it is in this shiny silver tray. This is what we call Nasi Bukhari. The spices, the carrots, kismis, budina, sweet pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, you can eat it without kuah also. Hearing him list the ingredients at the top of his head really gives me the feeling that he has passion for his food. Okay this is the Palestinian hummus. 18 ringgit for one. Make it into a cone like this and just dip it in. Try. You've never tasted this kind of taste before? But I'm in love with the dip man. I was expecting the dip to be somewhat sweet. But it's not you know, it's salty and a bit sour-ish. Good. Isn't it? I cannot stop. It's not like sellouts but it's really true. Like all the taste just complement so well together you know. With the pomegranate there's a hint of sweetness like once you bite in it. The juice pops. Mahana ma pui! But I really think you should come and try. 3, 2, 1. 8.3. Very typical milkshake. This is strawberry chocolate milkshake. To me milkshake has to be thick. Wheat cream at the top is light and airy. While she's sipping I felt like we're being washed. Shavisya don't be pressured. You know the ice cream tops? Oh yeah. The tree flavours like. This is 19 ringgit way too expensive. Watery than what I'm used to. How is it? I understand you tell us that's expensive ingredients but it feels like an ice cream that I can taste with let's say 5 to 6 ringgit. You know those tops that you buy those blue colour ice cream tops? There's another opinion, I respect that. 3, 2, 1, 6. Next dish was his pizza and he personally wanted to make it for me. This flour is non-bleached flour. Looks like the chef is a bit nervous. No? You want pepperoni or you want wagyu? Let's try pepperoni. How often do you cook yourself? Every day. Is it correct? He's here every day? Yeah. Every day? Yeah. Okay, okay, okay. Oh is this neapolitan or thing crust? This is a thing crust. I'm not doing it for the sake of the camera. We really load it with pepperoni. How much is it the pizza? Either he's very good at putting on a front or he's genuinely passionate about his food and it's so contagious. And it's not just the food. I noticed his customers seem to really like him, want to take pictures with him and he treats them equally well. I cannot speak for his internet persona but it seems Chef Ahmad as a person has a lot of pride maybe cannot take criticism sometimes but it's kind deep down. There's a lot of people who want to take pictures with him. Anyway, back to the pizza. This 65,000 ringgit oven took four to five minutes to cook it and here it is. No cheese pool, Chef. No cheese pool? It's not about the cheese pool? The cheese pool. I see. Gang, this is it. The second last dish before I try their lamb shank. 60 ringgit pizza 17 or 18 inch enough for three to four people. I don't like this one. The cheesiness is not there. The tomato cheese and the pepperoni. Hmm nothing stands out right. The pepperoni I prefer a bit more crispy overall very lacking. The one thing I like about this is the dough. It doesn't feel like biscuit. And for 60 ringgit, hmm 3 2 1 4.2. Chef, you're going to have to see this later. Don't putui me. Finally trying Chef Amar's lamb shank for the second time. Bukhati rice, mandy rice. 500 grams of his lamb shank. I'm hoping right now dining in it will taste fresher. The sauce will be more pekat. From what the chef told me, it's more or less the same ingredient for his lamb shank. Last time I gave it a 6.2. Griffin, I need you to eat this one before I say anything. I don't even like black lamb shank lah. It's not my food. Melt off the bone tender. Let me try it again. It does make a difference when you eat it fresh lah. Versus in a tupperware for 67 with two eggs. Oh yeah. With two saffron eggs, saffron eggs. Can skip, can skip guys. Skip saffron egg. Eat it. Very flavorful. Okay. I have to add this. Let's find out if Jason is acting. Huh? They're not taste. Like fried chicken skin taste also. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You love lamb shank more than me lah. For me, I prefer fried chicken. I almost don't want to admit it but it's actually good. And for his new promo price at 39 ringgit. Usually this kind of rice is not for me when it becomes too perfumey or too herbally. But this is really just nice for my Malaysian taste. But I hope the chef is not making this special for me. It meant to be amazing. Now you want to go home and think about it first. Hoi! What do I think of his lamb shank? I had a few days to think about it. The sauce seems as though it was more pekat. Felt like it had the same ingredients, just less diluted. What really added to that experience was frying his new Bekati rice. And if I paired that with the lamb shank, I would have to give it a 7.9. Okay so after all of this, what do you think? Is this guy here a sellout? Do you like his food? Do you hate his food? I want to hear all of that in the comments. I'll see you in the next video!
