Jason finds the chicken version the winner at 7.2, with tender juicy meat and creamy peppery sauce, while the beef is a 6.8 with barely any meat in the dough. Worth trying, but the 40-minute queue and order issues make the wait painful.

Highlights

  • Price: RM11 total for one beef and one chicken roti
  • Taste: Crispy outside, soft inside, onion-y peppery chicken; beef barely detectable
  • Ambiance: Long weekend queue near Bukit Bintang MRT, drizzling afternoon
  • Other: 40-minute wait due to order issues; making itself is fast

Rokia, you asked me to go back Bukit Bintang to try the first Chinese muslim crispy beef roti in Malaysia and I'm taking the train. Train is better than car to Bukit Bintang, especially on the weekends, you cannot argue with me on that. And this place is walking distance from the Bukit Bintang store. The queue here is very long, it's drizzling 2.54pm, start of the queue. Behind me also very long a day. I think my waiting time should not be taken as the norm because the queue did not move for a while. Seems like they had order issues. Crispy beef roti making was fast though, it felt like it was made by factory arms. After some time they figured out the order and the line started to move. 3.30pm, I'm at the end of the queue. 40 minutes wait la. We're gonna get one beef, one chicken. Yay, the girlfriend is paying for today's meal. Total damage 11 ringgit. Panas namam. Should be very fresh I hope. First bite a lot of it is the dough. Very fancy, very hot. You can hardly feel the beef, it's like tiny pinches of meat. Face of the girlfriend when she eats something hot. You can taste the onion, the outside layer is very crispy but not overly crispy because inside is a bit soft man. Chicken is tender, juicy, creamy sauce to it. Onion-y, peppery, salty. That's the kind of taste that you get. The pepper works for me but I wish they had more beef in my bun. Let us calculate! Is the chicken nicer or the beef nicer? The chicken is tastier because it's tender and juicier. All that sauce la absorbs better here. Chicken is a 7.2, beef 6.8. Agree?
