The verdict
BolehJason finds Flynn KL's Ramadan buffet one of the better-looking buffet spots with solid kampong-style dishes like daging masak hitam and oxtail soup. At RM90 it's decent value if you're a big eater, though the buffet format dulls some textures like the ayam rempah skin.

How well do we know each other's top 5 food? We're doing it at Flynn KL's new Ramadan buffet, they have 50 kampong-style food and drinks. We will be picking what we think the other person's top five is at this buffet. Nasit serai, sambal hitam, kangkong, ikan berlado, ikan dori tiga rasa. First one I'll pick is the soup tulang. I know she loves ayam berempah. Banana leaf style ayam 65 is the prawn version asam pedas oxtail. Confirm this one. What I picked for her versus what she picked for me. I like the vibe of this cafe, it's giving modern utopia. Definitely one of the better looking spots to makan. So let's look at my list lah. Before I reveal, let's cheers first. My number one is daging masak hitam. Why do you think it's my number two? Oxtail soup. So you took what you think you like? No because we have similar taste. Third one is ikan keli. Eh? Here. Udang rempah. Yeah. You took for me. Tiffan nasi kawar. Three out of five correct lah. Soup tulang. Yes! Sambal hitam. You always say beef lah, it's not like your top. Hitam is like, you know the hitam. So when it comes to sauce, you don't mind the meat already lah? Yeah. Hitam is like... I know you like masak hitam. I just know you don't really like beef. Correct or no? Yeah. Nasih serai. Okay. No this is nasi kawar. You just want to win. No, I want nasi serai. Like I want ikan berladuk. Okay. I want kerabu kacang potok. You only got one right? You don't know me, man. Oh nasi kawar inside got meat already, man. Oh! Min's beef. The nasi kawar is like manis-masih got the rempah flavor. Try the masak hitam. I want to see your reaction. Hmm. Spicy or cake. The texture is... you don't want to say super tender but it's easy to bite. Ikan dori tiga rasa. Why tiga rasa? I don't know. The dori fish lah, leave it too long on the tray lah. It loses the slimy texture of ikan dori. Yeah this is my least favorite. All of a sudden get into the meat become a bit more plain tasting. It's not too spicy lah the asam preda. Kids can definitely eat this. The point that I kind of like cake. It's crispy but the reason why she doesn't order it is because it has to peel and they already peeled this for you. She always want to ask me to go banana leaf. This rempah is one of the things that she eats. The soup tulang also quite nice and very thick. What about the meat? Very tender. And marinate it with the soup tulang. I don't want to eat the... Keliki. Always take ayam rempah. Since when you see me, take chicken mix. This is why I asked for drumstick they don't have. Yeah that's why. She said she would take beef because it's masa hitam. Now she won't take rempah fried style because it's a wing instead of drumstick. Explain yourself. I wouldn't take the ayam rempah because her skin is becoming very rubbery. The nature of a buffet really brings down the flavor and the texture and the taste of certain foods. I hope you are a big eater because RM90 probably skip the rice. I will whack the oxtail soup, the masak hitam again, and the udang. One of the oxtail soup will be 10 to 15 ringgit. Six oxtail soups for RM90. Assortments of kueh nyonya also very nice. I want to go second round? Also for any extra food that's untouched we usually give it to the security guard at our place.
