A pleasant surprise: this Saturday-only back-alley evening market at Chefsbury Square feels like a secret street food bazaar. The appam balai was the standout, better than a previous Ramadan version, and the vibe is more eat-and-chill than romantic date spot.

  • Taste: Crispy, glossy appam with a soft fluffy layer inside; refreshing dragon fruit juice

This Lorong Belakang Sae Berjaya only opens every Saturday. It's in Chefsbury Square and it looks like some secret evening market. They have some of the most popular street foods, and you can smell it the whole way. THICC sausages. I've never had dragon fruit juice before. They actually gave some fruits inside. Girlfriend is about to drink dragon fruit for the first time. How much is it? Four, but it's very refreshing la. Okay la. Really? Very normal. Look at the popcorn popping. It stays very long eh, you come and see. Yeah. On the other side of this market is the non-food stuff like toys, anime figurines, even a few racks of thrifted preloved clothes. Wow budak oh! I think it's fate that Appam Balai always find its way back to us so I'm doing a disservice to the universe if I don't try it out. Mmm, tastes really good. Better than the Ramadan one that we tried. One ringgit. It's crispy ah, and also glossy on the outside. Not totally wafer thin, crispy with a small layer of fluffiness inside. This place I think is a very good dating spot. Is it? Not so much of a dating spot la. More like a place for you to eat and chill la.
