The verdict
SkipJason's red spicy ramen at Matsuri Ramen was the low light of the night, scoring a brutal 1.3 for a broth that tasted only of chilli flakes. An earlier beef bowl stop in SS15 fared slightly better at 5.8 but was still bland. He questions how the restaurant holds a 4.2 Google rating.
Highlights
- Price: His ramen came to about RM25.80, split with his girlfriend via MAE app
- Taste: Red spicy broth was one-note chilli flakes; char shu chicken tasted unmarinated and boiled
- Ambiance: Nearly empty with only two customers at Sunway Pyramid, which he found suspicious
- Other: Paid his girlfriend back using the Maybank MAE tap-track-win campaign

I tried two noodle spots from your suggestion with a small twist, the girlfriend is going to pay and then reveal the price at the end. First suggestion is by Mike Wazowski and it asks us to go eat beef bowl in SS15. What is up with you at SS15 ha? Like I said, the girlfriend took the order for us and for the first time in a long time she complimented me. She had a soup with rice and Mike I have to say it was quite bland and it had this weird microwave aftertaste. She added chilli flakes in hopes the flavours would pop more. It helped a bit but it was still a forgettable taste. I had it with noodles, same soup but with more beef parts. The noodle wasn't firm and chewy, it was mushy. But I liked the rest of the ingredients especially the beef had just the right texture and beefy flavour not too strong. That beef slice was tender. I think the ingredients were good. Just too bad it was covered in bland soup. I'm giving both a 5.8. I'm just savouring the moment that girlfriend is paying for my meal. Second noodle spot is Matsuri Ramen in Sunway Pyramid suggested by Dee. And we were one of the only two customers there. For Sunway Pyramid that is very sus. I thought it could be the menu because the price is mahanamam pui. Girlfriend ordered for me the red spicy. Before I touch on mine, I want to talk about the girlfriend's black garlic. The first thing she said after trying it. Sayang lah this soup was even blander. Overall wasn't good 4.5. My red spicy is the low light of the night. If the broth was a person, its personality was just the chilli flakes and that's it nothing else. Because that was the only thing I tasted. It was really difficult to eat it even after 3 bites. Their char shu chicken tasted like it was just boiled without any marination and put into the soup just before serving it to us. I really don't know how Google is a 4.2. Maybe the quality changed. Maybe it was just my dish or maybe it's my taste bud problem. But my taste bud is giving this a 1.3. How is that? All that's left is to know how much it all costs. Girlfriend? Don't have to pay you back. There's no free lunch in the world. We had beef bowl first. Let me guess. 58 ringgit. 48, 10 cent. Since I'm paying back, I might as well get some benefits. This comes from me? No. No way. So may app has this tap track win campaign. Do you want to win a trip to two to Maldives? So transfer fund is one of the methods. You can do scan and pay. You can pay your bills. Many different ways. So let me just transfer this one and get 1 and 3 first. Done! Happy? This is fun, huh? Wait. How much was the beef bowl? It's inside there. Oh. Yours is how much? 1650. Mine? 2450. Next one. Tax ramen. Yeah. 109. I saw the price in the menu. It's about 63 or that. 69, 14. Never mind. I got the big app to do it. We can win a trip to the Maldives. I think there's other stuff as well. Can you get a robot vacuum cleaner? iPad. Nintendo Switch. Pictures of gold coin. Oh, really the robot vacuum. If I still transfer money, you don't say so much. Minimum RM30 per transfer. What if you know what? What? Why not to increase your chance lah. You transfer half-half. Since it's 60 right? No. It's how much I owe you? 69, 40. 40 cent or so long to remind me. So key lah. It's 18 cents. Done! Yay! You want the receipt lah? Yeah, I want the receipt. So key lah. The one give you lah. You give me your receipt! Transfer successful! Wait. How much was mine around there? 25,80. And yours? 25,80. You know if you win the receipt to Maldives, you need to pay for everything also right?
