The verdict

Great

Jason rates Moky's Pizza highly, with the creamy Alfredo chicken (8.1) edging out the pepperoni (7.8) despite him being a pepperoni boy. The New York-style pizzas blend cheese and tomato into one creamy, slightly salty-sour sauce, though the thin crust has zero cheese pull. Slices start from RM8 and the shop sells out around 6-7pm.

Highlights

  • Price: Slices from RM8 plus; 12-inch pizzas RM32-33
  • Taste: Creamy cheese and tomato blended into one sauce; habanero sauce is a spicy game changer

  • Other: Sells out around 6-7pm; expansion planned for Taman Melawati and Johor Bahru

Trying Moky's Pizza. Yes, you've been asking me to try this Moky's at Bukit Jelutong. I asked regular customer Ira what she thought which flavour would you recommend in Moky's and what would you rate that flavour? I'm a basic girl with pepperoni because the pepperoni is very flavourful. 10 out of 10 lah. Watching them make the pizza, I noticed one major difference compared to Kerwan's. They're not using a brick oven and the very reason for this is because so New York style doesn't use brick oven pizza. This is Umar and he's one of the owners. More on that later. You can get their flavours by slice which cost anywhere from 8 ringgit plus. First ever Moky's had to be a pepperoni. 12 inch, 32 ringgit. The beef essence is strong. So far, everything about Moky's Pizza is very creamy. It's a basic taste not the hard dry kind juicy without being too watery. Slight chili powder or chili sauce on it. A lot of the tastes will come from the cheese and the tomato base. Macam the cheese and the tomato base is evenly mixed together. You know how some pizzas lah, you know lah, pizza hard, Domino's whatever. Cheese is usually very hard and thick. Then the tomato base is a bit more watery, you can clearly tell the separation but this one is like really mixed together into a sauce. So what you get is this creamy, more too salty, slightly sour taste. One thing that I don't like is it has zero cheese poop. Although it's chewy but it's thin crust and it's still easy to eat. Not a super wild one but add the habanero sauce and it's good. Usually I won't think twice on their sauce but this one is a game changer especially for spicy lovers. Seven point eight. Second pizza Alfredo chicken, 33 ringgit. Okay very hard, very hard. Very melty, very creamy. Chicken tender juicy. Kerouan's cheese is more lembut, more thick, more chewy. This one is more melted but the taste comes off I think a bit stronger than Kerouan's one. A bit saltier, a bit cheesier. As a pepperoni boy, somehow I still prefer the Alfredo chicken. I think it's done well. The cheese is so creamy. It mixes better with the Alfredo chicken and the veggie. The spinach balances the salty with some green taste and not make it too je lah. 8.1. Any plans for expansion? We have only two places in mind which is in Tama Malawati and Johor Bahru. Which flavour would you recommend? The fake margarita and also beef pepperoni. When can people expect pizza to sell out? Somewhere around 6-7pm. What time then would you recommend someone to come and get their orders? I suggest you come at 11pm. Thank you so much sir. Alright, always.
