Jason rates Nala a 6/10 — good ambience, big portions and a tasty signature sauce, but it cannot compare with a neighborhood roadside nasi lemak. A different mall experience worth trying once.

  • Taste: Crispy charcoal-grilled chicken with a buttered-chicken-like sauce and creamy santan rice

Is this shopping mall nasi lemak better than a roadside nasi lemak? Let's find out. So cool! It's called Nala, located in Mid Valley. I like it, this nasi lemak place stays true to its heritage, it's tropical, just like Malaysia because we all know Nasi lemak is made in Malaysia. After 25 minutes the food arrived. It's also nasa cheese. Better be worth it. I'll be trying the Teh Ice first. It tastes different a bit. Very Teh Tarek-y taste. Like how herbal taste is more herbal. This is more Teh Tarek. Teh Tarek 2.0. The second drink I ordered was the Teh Ice. I don't know if it's true or not but it tastes very healthy. It's like Teh Ice with barley at that. It has a nice light barley aftertaste which I prefer over the pekat taste that sometimes gives me a headache. I give it a hard face emoji out of 10. This is the Nasi Lemak Ayam Bakan Nala, flame grilled quarter chicken with their signature Nala sauce. With the classic nasi lemak that comes with the sambal, egg, rice, ikan bilis and peanuts. Time to reveal! Seems a bit hard to peel off. Okay finally got a piece. Okay very good la, this is very creamy for the santan taste. The star of the show is their chicken and sauce. The sauce tastes a bit like buttered chicken. The chicken skin was crispy and had that charcoal grill taste which I love. But wait there's more! Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Nala with deep fried quarter chicken and the same Nala sauce. The egg is cold from fish. The sambal is quite good eh. It's sweet but it's spicy. Actually when I ordered it, I wasn't expecting the sauce. I just went plain and I'm going, I think the sauce makes it less greasy, greasy, greasy? Greasey, nice. The chicken was cooked so tender and the skin was so crispy. Like yin and yang! We found a cat mum and her baby so we decided to give them some food. Overall Nala is 6 out of 10. Total bill was 58 ringgit but cannot la compare with your neighborhood nasi lemak. This is a different experience. Very good ambience, big portion size together with their special sauce. You should definitely try this. I'm still looking for the best neighborhood nasi lemak so Where should I try next? I'm still looking for the best neighborhood nasi lemak. I'll see you next time. I'll see you next time.
