The verdict

Great

Jason finds this TTDI nasi lemak hotspot solid, with a fresh-off-the-deep-fryer fried chicken as the star. The sambal is nostalgic and spicy but too oily, and the sotong version is decent but not special. Worth the queue if you're in the area.

Highlights

  • Price: Sotong nasi lemak RM13, fried chicken around RM12.50
  • Taste: Fresh deep-fried chicken is great but salty; sambal is spicy yet oily
  • Ambiance: Crowded hotspot with a mixed-rice-style queue system, flies outside
  • Other: Regulars rate it around 7; Village Park is the local rival

This is nasi lemak burung hantu, a hotspot in DTDI. You know what they say? A crowd means good food. I'm going to try it out myself, nasi lemak as well my favourite, top of the top, cream of the crop. Hopefully you can find a place. Also spoke to some regular customers on their experience. Bro spent 54 ringgit for two. First time when I came, I paid 25 ringgit. Two percent? Yeah. But if you come second time means should be quite good lah kan? Oh yeah, because in Tramontone not many places called nasi lemak. What is your rating? Maybe seven. Appreciate you. Thank you. I've tasted a lot nasi lemak. Nasi lemak is my favourite. Around TTDI or like seluruh Malaysia? Seluruh Kelang Valley, I would say. At least. Which one is your second nasi lemak? Should I? Shouldn't I? I'll see a village park. A lot of people say village park. A bit spicy for sambak. Thank you, Arif. Nice to see you, Jason. Very similar to a mixed rice shop. There's a queue system, they give you the rice and then you pick your laur. Not much from what I've seen but definitely the popular choices. Mandatory for her, fried chicken, so that's what we are trying first. Cucumber test. What tea, Mayu? Soggy. No. Crunchy. Actually it's in between. This one is trying to be crispy but because of all the oil around here it becomes a bit soggy. Sekolah menengah sambal. Wah! I just tried the oil of the sambal and it's already spicy. When we say that sambal tastes like your sekolah menengah or sekolah rendau right, it means that the shrimp paste taste is the dominant flavour. Just a bit too oily. You can cook another fried chicken with that oil. This is me trying the crispy bits of the fried chicken. That's good, but very salty. You mix it with this meat right? It's nice. Oh! I can't believe test. The worst thing about I can't believe for me is when you bite once, it doesn't break. Then you bite and become powder. So that's good. There's that chicken. It looks kind of dry. Fresh off the deep fryer taste. That's what I like about it. Nasi lemah sotong 13 ringgit. Everything else is the same, just a sotong lah. Be careful if you eat outside there's a good chance you will meet your friendly neighbourhood fly. It's tasty. Sekolah menengah sotong. Maybe it's normal? Yeah. Sotong is 13 ringgit. I'll give it 7.8. Now for the fried chicken. The crunchy stuff really good. 12.50 average in TTDI 8.2. My favourite part of a quarter drumstick. This is the best. Agree lah. It's like that liver taste.
