A shopping-packed day two in Bangkok with his girlfriend, with food highlights at the Platinum Fashion Mall food court and street Thai milk tea. The siumai was a tourist-trap letdown, but the chewy Thai-style chakwe tiao stir fried seafood and RM4 Thai milk tea delivered. Great day overall, though 6-8 hours of walking left them exhausted.

Highlights

  • Price: Dress for only 25 ringgit and Thai milk tea at RM4
  • Taste: Chewy chakwe tiao stir fried seafood and beef stew delicious; Thai tea too sweet
  • Ambiance: Seven floors of shopping giving Sungai Wang vibes, packed at peak hour
  • Other: Tuk-tuk to Siam Square was a totally recommended city experience

Day 2 of our Bangkok trip is just going to be full of shopping. Outside of our hotel, it's like a pasar pagi. Then we took the train for the first time in this trip. Just got to buy the card, beep in and wait about 5 minutes for your train. Boom, it's sampai already. Now it's a bit packed but not too crazy. Girlfriend was holding my arm so clingy. The view of the train was really nice. It was only two stops away before you reach our location. I don't know how to beep in apparently, just put a card in and you can go already. So we reached this place and we saw a flagship Apple store and it was looking very good. I don't think Malaysia has a flagship store like this for Apple. So it was cool to just walk through and see, see, look, look, laugh. We're going to have breakfast at the market again. I feel like right now it's like a tourist trap because we tried their siumai as well. And to be honest, it's not as nice as Malaysia's one. Not as authentic. So we went to a bridge, we saw Platinum Fashion Mall, we walked through the entrance, Oxford too, and we noticed seven floors of shopping. At first it was giving me Sungai Wang vibes. Then after that, a few shirts I see you can get a like pull and bear H&M style open. Soppa style kind of fit, oversized t-shirts and stuff like that for a fraction of the price. And my girlfriend got her new face mask chain as well. So we went upstairs to their food court and we exchanged money for this food court card and I bought this chakwe tiao which is like a Thailand chakwe tiao but chewier, stir fried seafood. And then I tried my girlfriend's beef stew as well, chewy a bit. And it was also very delicious. But yeah, the Thai tea was a bit too sweet. You can find outside of Platinum Fashion Mall a lot of street vendors also selling clothes. And most of it is for you ladies lah. My girlfriend was shopping like crazy here and she finally found her favorite dress for only 25 ringgit. So we set the tuk-tuk to go to City Siam Square. I can say what a great experience. It's like you're part of the city when you're sitting in it. So recommend it totally. We are at City Siam Square now, we took a few pictures for the Insta feed and we finally dropped by this place called Matchbox. I really like it. It's just basically a shop with full of designers in it. Different, different kind of designers. You can find a lot of style for both men and women. The prices here are also quite cheap so don't worry about it. I tried two shirts and this is the one I finally picked. This shop called Daddy is part of my girlfriend's itinerary. At first we thought it was for street wear and then we finally noticed it's a bunch of stickers, caps, teddy bears and this pink phone. Calling help my girlfriend, a shop addict. This open concept Nike store in Siam Centre, it was just nearby. Looked very nice there. I never seen really anything like this. The entrance also cool. They have a photo of runners. Anyway we went back already after that. It was peak hour, lot of people. And just before we go back to our hotel, we bought this Thai milk tea for RM4. Very delicious. By this point we were already walking for a full 6-8 hours. Tired lah. We just unboxed our shopping haul. You can see we didn't control our spending for day two. Day three we're gonna go to some never before seen cafes. Yasss. . ... . ... April 29, Day three we're going.
