Popeye's Store

We tried 3 dishes in the store that only opens from 7pm in Kota Damansara, it's called Popeye's Store. You can recognise the place by its bright lights and pink caravan. Nasi lemak biasa starts at RM4. You get the usuals but the egg is cooked differently. It's a mix of scrambled and fried. Sambal chicken, varuval mutton, varuval chicken, kerang. I got both my favourites, kerang and mutton varuval. Total damage RM15. Crunchy but now has salty. The egg tastes fresh, it's warm. The best I can describe is strong on the onion and also, macam they mix it with the rempah, the flowery spice or it's called the bungalawang. Seems like there's some inside here when the taste. The serious question is, is it nice? Me personally, I feel I'm very neutral. I think this one some people might like. The kerang texture, chewy but not to the point where it is rubbery. Served cold, strong on the onion for cake. My favourite here is the varuval. I like it because there's less tendons. The sauce is thick and tasty, like what you expect from a varuval lah. I really like varuval. 6.9. She ordered nasi lemak goreng tambah telur. The flavours come from the peanut and ikan bilis that add saltiness and texture but 90% of this dish is rice and the rice is quite bland. 3 2 1 4 The one I've been waiting for, soup ayam. It's 7 ringgit. Feels like it's infused very heavily with the chicken essence and the chicken oil, it tastes like stew but not as thick. And look at the chicken, it's super marinated, tender and juicy. Not super marinated but still tasty compared to a mamak soup ayam right? This one feels richer and the chicken seems like it's infused inside longer that all the taste and all the essence get to marinate properly. Imagine if you think this with white rice, telur goreng or telur rebos, I think it'll be nice. I give this a 7.7.
