The verdict
BolehJason likes this Ramadan bazaar overall but the insane afternoon heat is a real downside. Standouts were the durian crepe and tahu bergedil, while Chef Ammar's RM60 lamb shank is decent but overpriced for the brand name.
Highlights
- Price: Parking RM2; lamb shank RM57, RM60 with added egg
- Taste: Durian crepe and tahu bergedil shine; lamb shank slightly better than average nasi arab
- Ambiance: Massive bazaar with lots of food and drinks, but extremely hot with hardly any shade
- Other: Bring an umbrella in the afternoon; long queues move fast

I tried seven dishes, yes including Chef Ammar's lamb shang, it's in Shah Alam's Ramadan Bazaar. Parking is RM2, I think it's worth it, there's a lot of food and drinks to try here. I see this kerang gemau my FIP a few times, confirm auto-buy, money yang Q panjang kena cuba. It's very hot! If you're coming here during the afternoon, bring your umbrella, it's super hot, and has hardly any shape. They also got this traditional Kelantan Terengganu Kueh called Ako. The girlfriend when she sees Tomya mana-mana pun, she has to buy it, budget aku terbang! I've seen you asking me to try the Tahu bergedil so it's my fourth dish. Karya raya tak sedap pudam balik, if you know, you know. They asked me to try their other flavors. Only familiar with Ikea meatball so I have to compare them. Introducing the prestigious Chef Ammar! The queue was long but did not take long. Getting one lamb shang, 57 ringgit. 60 ringgit because the girlfriend wanna add egg. Also bought durian crepe. I like this bazaar minus the insane heat. Kerang is juicy and slightly bigger than usual but I don't get it. Why is the sauce on the kerang shell instead of being served as a dip? Maybe you're supposed to suck the shell first. It's like ikan baka sauce but you can barely taste it. Kerang on, sauce failed. 6x5 Tahu bergedil. We tried porkedil before, didn't like it but this one was different. Mmm! Not bad! Chili padi on this sauce perkat! It's very similar taste to the porkedil but the big difference is this texture is much better with the porkedil. I vote for Tahu, 7 out of 10. Akkor original and pandan tasted delicious but I didn't like the texture. Inside the texture feels like you're eating oats. I think it's supposed to be cooked that way but it's just not my preference. 6.2 out of 10. Meatballs were good and can definitely compete with the IKEA version. Very bouncy and firm and there isn't much of the tendons inside. I just wish they packed the sauce separately because it somehow lost its taste on the way home. Even the cheese itself I cannot taste anymore. Sauce failed, meatball good. 6.5. This is the chef Amar lamb shank. You got the mandy rice and of course the lamb shank. The sand amampus! Okay the rice is more flavourful than what I've tried before. Somehow it tastes richer and it has a lamb essence. This cashew nut is expensive but doesn't help the taste at all, it was soggy. But I like the sauce, it had the right sweetness for me and made everything taste better. And this saffron egg needed it because it was tasteless. I prefer a white egg that would still taste the same and make the dish much cheaper. The lamb was very tender though. The sauce on the lamb gave it a smoky flavour. Wow rasa asa! But it was more watery than thick so it made it a bit more bland. And the taste of the lamb meat alone was very normal. This is slightly better than your average nasi arab. So besides the lamb shank, I think a good chunk of your money goes to unneeded expensive ingredients and the brand name. 6.2 Noodles very soggy but the soup okay. It's spicy, also a bit sweet. They're quite generous with the sotong at least. I think the biggest letdown is... The soggy noodles but thick rice lah. I think it's a better option. And the soup too watery for me. 6.7 Durian crepe is good but make sure it's chilled. So we put in the fridge first just so that it's cold again. Outer layer tastes and feels like D24 durian skin. Inside thick layer of whipped cream. And either durian flavouring or actual durian filling. Yes expensive but I'm durian bias. 7.2 Finally me and Kaya Raya got history. Brandy sedap! Tak sedap! I'm going to get my money back. Kaya Raya Cafe DMed me and said, Hi Jason thanks for your review I'll pay your money back. I didn't take the money but they wanted me to try other flavours. They were kind enough to actually give me these drinks. I'm still going to be 100% honest. So a few of you said that green tea is good. A few of you also said the Thai tea is good. But I don't think anyone really talked about the lemon tea. Check, check, check. Not bad. The sweetness and it's also quite milky. Really got the Thai green tea taste. This one is a 7. Mmm! Got the weird smoky flavour. It doesn't really taste like Thai tea, I'll give this a 4. Sometimes this kind of bottled iced lemon tea ah. They lose the sourness. This one still got... A slightly better version of your supermarket lemon tea. It's roughly the same size at a much higher price. 6.9 I think this is better than Krypton tea but also more expensive. Eh you cannot compare lah. This one is made from Thai yellow and it's from Britain. Okay, so fast-looking, look. Let's go through this one. Okay. What? Let's go!
