The verdict

Boleh

A bougie dimly-lit wine bar lunch that Jason finds stylish but overpriced. The crab croquettes and lamb pasta are just okay for the money, and the flourless orange cake tastes like ordinary bakery cake at a premium. Overall a middling experience with a few enjoyable bites.

Highlights

  • Price: RM25 croquettes, RM53 lamb, RM21 cake slice — steep for the portions
  • Taste: Gribiche sauce is interesting but sour; lamb is very lamby; cake is zesty but ordinary
  • Ambiance: Dimly lit, small and cosy wine bar with an upstairs that was closed
  • Other: Only 137 Google reviews, hidden small restaurant in KL

Have you ever heard about this restaurant in KL? Small. Shifting. Space. It's got 137 reviews on Google. Me and your girlfriend went here for lunch, which also happens to be a wine bar. The place is dimly lit, small and cosy. There is an upstairs but it was closed that day. Crab and potato croquet. 25 ringgit! It feels like mashed potatoes. Oh, I just bit the chunk of crab. It's sour because of the sauce. It's called the Gribbish Sauce. Gribbish Sauce. A cold egg sauce in French cuisine made by emulsifying hard-boiled egg yolks and mustard with a neutral oil like canola or grapeseed. Wow, I don't understand. So, a lot of it is the bread of fire which is quite typical in fish and chips. Other than that, I had like one tiny piece of crab chunk. It tastes ok but for the price... 25 ringgit for two sushi size croquets that taste ok la. 6.1. Lamb bread got straws ah, what are you? 53 ringgit! My hand I'm not pui. Excuse me. Very lamby. The pasta is more bouncy but it's thick. It seems like the ham put the lamb and that's my favourite. I like ham put beef lamb. Tasty. I can do without the green stuff. Too sour. How much did you rate this? 4.7. You are reading my mind also. Bougie but the portion and taste is good. 7. Flowerless orange cake, 21 ringgit. Giving me food cake vibes. Hmm. Zesty, tangy. It's alright. Yeah it's ok. Check out this super atas thing of magic. It looks like a snowflake. And it tastes like flavorless wafer. Try. I know eh. Eh, cakap tanah tapi ambil juga ah. Oh, it tastes like wafer. Yeah, I really eat. Flowerless orange cake, warm nut, berry compote, creme fraiche. This is gonna be half to recommend because the portion is so small. With all the fancy ingredients, it still tastes like your local bakery food cake. And it's 21 ringgit for a tiny slice. If it was quarter the price in a supermarket, 7. But in this bougie restaurant, 5.6. Let me know what's that cookie. I eat cookies today though.
