Behind me is a seafood restaurant that's been running since the 1980s. Open parking reserved for customers. It's like walking in your grandma's room ah, except this grandma has a lot of kaching. Oh this grandma also has a secret stash of aquarium tanks teeming with live seafood. Seems like a spot for big gatherings but I'll be trying three dishes. Let's see if this over 40 year old restaurant is adopted ah. Tiger grouper fish, siamese style for RM180. Mahanaman poing. But I'm telling you the smell, very inviting. Very asam vibe. I think they put in coconut milk because it feels creamy also. I feel sour more but sweet and salty, feels balanced. Trying the grouper now. Man I love eating near the fin area. Creamy, gelatinous feel, firm but soft. Another thing I really like about the grouper meat, hints of sweetness. And it feels as though I can still taste a bit of that salt water from the meat. I just like how textured and rich this asam feels. It's not too liquidy, it's not super sour. It's as though the sourness and sweetness naturally comes from the pineapple. Feels like I drove to a fish village and ate it fresh on the spot, 8.8. Boiled tiger prawn, RM36, 8 pieces. All similar to this size. Their prawn head got some extra bitterness to it. A pungent flavour straight into your nose. More watery than creamy one. The prawn's flavour of the sea is so clear in this. It has a smooth outer, bite in, stringy inside. Most of it is the Essence Ocean Tasting Prawn. They should just call this prawn soup. The prawn on the outside is more firm one so I don't know if they overcooked this a little. 6.7. Sri Lankan Crab, Kam Hiong style, RM133. But it is crab. It's gonna get very crabby. Plus point to the staff, they still provide the tool for you to break it. But yeah, they mostly open it already. For me, my indication of good crab meat is when you can see the individual stringy strands. Moist. I was worried how strong and aromatic Kam Hiong typically is. But this crab meat still retains a bit of the sweetness. The crab brain. Crab brain is not creamy. It has a coagulated texture already. The meat is not stingy but it doesn't feel like it's too much. 7.
