The verdict
BolehJason tries Thong Cha, a Thai tea kiosk at IOI City Mall, sampling the popcorn slushie, the chocolate Kao Kao and a matcha with tau fu fa. The RM16.90 popcorn slushie scores 7.2 — melty, smoky Thai tea but gimmicky since it melts and spills fast — while the Kao Kao (7.4) is intensely chocolatey and the matcha tau fu fa lands around 7 with thick, egg-rich pudding but a slight beany note.
Highlights
- Price: Popcorn slushie priced at RM16.90
- Taste: Melty, smoky Thai tea slushie that is milky and slightly Milo-like; Kao Kao is super rich chocolate, like eating ten spoons of chocolate chip cookie chips; matcha has a mild veggie/beany taste from the tau fu fa
- Ambiance: Grab-and-go mall kiosk vibe at IOI City Mall
- Other: The popcorn slushie is a gimmick — it melts and spills quickly and takes 10-50 minutes to fully melt, making it perfect for slow drinkers; the pudding topping is described as '80% egg' thick
