Jason finds this affordable Thai mukata between ok and good: the grilled meat is crunchy yet juicy with a wholesome BBQ vibe. He recommends it without the add-ons, since the tom yum soup and Thai milk tea disappoint.

  • Taste: Grilled meat is crunchy and juicy; tom yum sour but not spicy

A cheap Thai BBQ? It's called Today Mukata in Ara Dabansara. First impressions, so blue! If you're a fan of course, there's two life-size ones here for you to take pictures. I think the blue theme of this restaurant gives a nice balance to the warm tone of the food. Time to order! They got free refill for kangkong. Chicken soup also free but we like spicy so we have to top up RM9. Five packs for RM60? We got the 2-3 packs one instead because girlfriend memang cannot eat much. The drinks is where the price starts to add on. We got one of the more expensive ones, the Thai milk tea just to see if it's worth it. Not worth it! The thing is, it's not really that bad but it's not super good either. It's the average drink so I'd rather get 4 tea ice from the mama. By the way, this Thai chili sauce goes well with everything. So it's your typical BBQ with grill and tom yum soup. The rice, egg and roll are separate but the rest like the fish ball, the crab stick and the veggie is just all part of the set. But wait! There's more! We were given 3 packs of meat for this RM40 set. Okay, so to taste the tom yum soup we add the egg in and then put it in the rice. The tom yum soup has a good sourness to it but it's not spicy. Makes me feel like I'd rather get the chicken soup and save my RM9. That's okay because for me mukata is all about the grilling. This one is thin enough to be crispy and this meat is thick enough to be juicy. Fill the soup yourself if you want. Self-service means you don't have to wait. Okay, this is what we're talking about. The meat is both crunchy and juicy. Delicious especially with the sauce. It has what I call that wholesome BBQ vibe. So for 2% the damage is RM94. If you're looking for a mukata that has good meat, a cool ambience and affordable, I recommend it without the add-ons.
