The verdict

Great

Jason calls the salted egg prawn spaghetti probably the best spaghetti he has eaten this year, scoring it 9.8 despite the steep price. The nasi talapia is well executed but the creamy butter lala at RM29.90 feels overpriced with small, non-meaty clams.

Highlights

  • Price: Pasta RM32.90, lala RM29.90 — pricey but worth it for the pasta
  • Taste: Thick salted egg cream, sweet spicy fresh prawns, super al dente spaghetti
  • Ambiance: Bamboo rattan traditional Malaysian themed cafe, JB's most popular at 4.9 stars
  • Other: Sauce can get jelak from the strong milky taste

6,000 review, 4.9 out of 5 stars, probably the most popular cafe in JB, it's really themed one, it's giving bamboo ratan traditional Malaysian vibes. Top 3 yang you recommend makan sini? Ok, salted egg. Yang pasta dengan udang itu kan? Ya betul, yang kedua, dia clam, maka gak mantau ban, so kita... Lahari mana nih bang? Sorry? Spaghetti salted egg prawn, RM32.90. You can already see how thick the cream is, 5 prawns, all of them look cute. Damn, sweet, creamy and spicy, it's really all three. Combination with the chili spice and the salted egg is... Even the sauce consistency is the perfect thickness. Very fresh, not the store-bought, gamey, bouncy meat, you see? Crab meat style man. Mix it with a spaghetti oven. Uh, probably the best spaghetti I've eaten this year. It's something like ramen lah, even though the price is so expensive, 28 ringgit, 30 ringgit, but when the taste is so good, you don't really care when a super al dente spaghetti and the sauce is... The only tiny complaint I can maybe make is, you can maybe get jelak from this because of the strong milky taste. I have to give this 9.8. Set nasi talapia lempang lempung. This sambal looks thick, full of the chili seeds. Sambal taste is rare. Kampung hit on the lesong batu chili, it goes straight to your throat, to your nose. Skin is thin crispy, you still get that fresh water flavour like as if it was just caught from the leg like that one. There's no unique flavour but it is a very well done fish. Portion is big, finally something to really complain. Egg yolk dried out, giving this an egg. Creamy butter clam membawa diri yang terluka dek kerana hati terasa. The lala is small, it's not meaty. Really strong on the buttercream. Wah, it goes to your throat. The sauce is packed full of flavour. I think you can get muak because the meat is small so you get a lot more of the sauce itself. Let's dip the mantau in. Crispy little ah, lembut. Tapi dry sedikit di dalam. 29.90 girlfriend with this many lala, I still think it's a bit overpriced. Some of it like don't have maybe it's inside the soup. Some might complain it's maybe a bit too sweet. 7.2.
