The verdict
GreatJason orders seven nasi lemak from RM1 to RM20-plus via a delivery app and gives most of them 4 stars or better, concluding Malaysian nasi lemak truly understands the assignment. The RM2 goreng pisang acin bungkus and the pricier daging rendang and buttermilk squid versions all impress. Cheapest picks prove most popular with the office taste-testers.

Today I'm going to try 7 different nasi lemak from 7 different stores. My girlfriend's been stressed at work so my plan is to surprise her with her favourite nasi lemak, I'm going to order through the Summer local in May. So cool! Even KL Foodie has their top picks here. I'm just gonna order a bunch of different nasi lemak from 1 ringgit all the way to 20 plus ringgit. 7 orders total! They have arrived. The first order came in around 15 minutes. Ah, nasi lemak. Jason. Yes, thank you. I've never ordered so much food before, the rest of it came within one hour. I hope it's not too cold! Okay, I'm going to deliver her the food. I have no idea if my girlfriend's going to show a poker face, gonna be angry at me or she's gonna be excited. From the look on her face it's giving second hand embarrassment. She's playing it cool! So the girlfriend is gonna be picking the first nasi lemak and then the rest we give it to her colleagues. She chose a 2 ringgit nasi lemak from goreng pisang acin. The sambal looks so good. The Summer local may app. This is my 5 star. So how many out of 5 stars? I tried it myself and she's right, it's delicious! In no particular order I picked Alex and he chose the same nasi lemak as my girlfriend. Bungkus nasi lemak is so popular! Next is my girlfriend's new colleague Kelly. Ah, malu lah tuh! Drum roll please! What a cool drum sound! She chose the Limb Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak Drumstick for 15 ringgit and 63 cents. Yeah very specific. Kelly out of 5 stars how much would you give this? I'd give it a 4 because I think like the sambal is quite good. And their portion is actually quite big. Okay, Limb Fried Chicken also a good option. Yeah we got another customer called Vincy with a V. At this point it's not a surprise anymore. She picked a bungkus nasi lemak. It's 1 ringgit from a shop called Serambi Makan. They're out of 5 stars, Vincy. How much did you give this? 3. The sambal how would you describe? Super spicy? First bite not that spicy. Aftertaste is spicy. The fragrance very nice lah but somehow the rice like lembek. I think some would prefer softer rice and others would prefer more toing-toing rice. Which one do you like? Girls Jo, you can see she never stops smiling or laughing man. I think you picked one of the most expensive ones. I got good eyes! Ding! I checked and it's a second most expensive order. Nasi lemak daging masak hitam by The Food Tree. 4 stars ah? Okay. Sambal how is it? Sambal is spicy, it's good. The meat is good, it's not too saucy. You know she said she's gonna take this home to eat but actually she finished it on the spot. We got 3 nasi lemak left so we brought it to the second floor to see who else is hungry. Food delivery! Is this Heidi? Yeah. Hi Heidi. She picked the 15 ringgit nasi lemak daging rendang by Ricci Amo Rawang. First impressions, I think it looks okay-okay. But since Heidi is eating it, it's up to her to give the rating. I'm gonna say three. Four if it was hot. What would you say about the sambal? I like it. I think it's good cause like not too sweet which I think is like a problem with some places. Overall, like pretty solid sambal. The last two I'm going to try, this is the nasi lemak rempah chicken by Mamali. It's 15 ringgit but the chicken portion is baked, skin is crispy. Sambal okay-okay la. Three out of five for me. Ah, this one is the most expensive. The nasi lemak curry buttermilk squid from Buttermilk Kitchen. Buttermilk has a nice eggy texture and even though it's been a few hours, the goreng squid still has a good crunch to it. Close one eye on the price la. It's a four star for me. In three, two, one we rate food delivery nasi lemak out of five stars. Three, two, one. Wow! Malaysian nasi lemak memang understand it.
