The verdict
BolehJason spends an afternoon at Zzang Korean Boardgame Cafe in Desa Sri Hartamas, which packs over 300 board games, console rooms and cosy capsule-style private rooms at RM15/hour per person on weekdays. The food menu is small and mostly Korean instant-style dishes — the chicken ganjang and buldak corn cheese are the winners, while the jjagechi and cheese shin ramen fall flat. Come for the games and the chaos rather than a serious food destination.
Highlights
- Price: RM15/hour per pax on weekdays for board games; 65-inch console zone is RM60/hour (RM50 on weekdays); buldak corn cheese at RM20 felt overpriced
- Taste: Chicken ganjang is sedap — crispy chicken popcorn under sticky sweet tteokbokki sauce; wagyu kimchi fried rice is kimchi-heavy with a deep warm sour but no detectable wagyu; jjagechi tastes like Buldak with a weird bitter beany flavour
- Ambiance: Over 300 board games (many in Korean, with tablet tutorials provided), capsule hotel-style cosy rooms, a cordoned-off console area with curtains that isn't soundproof; the upstairs feels like your own world
- Other: Competitive games can turn best friends into worst enemies — he and his girlfriend barely survived Pushy Express, and the parking here will 'ruin friendships' too

His favourite Buldak with friendly spice and a thick melty mouthful, but RM20 is just too much

No food review today, we are at a board game cafe. And it got so chaotic. Oh, Cas! You think you're better than me? Hahaha! Hey, you're shaking the table! No, I'm not. See, there's a gang here playing already. Hahaha! Say hi, guys! Hi! Yeah, they were playing, I think, PS5 or Nintendo Switch. They have this cordoned off console area where you can use the curtain to close. It's not really soundproof ah. Why am I doing it like it's my own house tour? Y'all, so this is where they got the over 300 board games. Walking through here reminds me of a capsule hotel. But more cosy. They got a bunch of different rooms. I like the upstairs more because it feels like you're in your own world. Wait, their food quite minimum. Boing! Holding it at the same quality as main restaurant. I'm gonna be trying so much of their food and letting you know how it tastes. Weekday one hour is 15 ringgit per packs. It doesn't count in the console area. That one, you have to pay extra. Costs 60 ringgit per hour on the 65 inch zone. But it's 50 ringgit per hour on the weekday lah. That's a lot! A lot of the board games are in Korean. They give you a tablet with all the tutorials. Some of the board games I think are really fun, especially if you are very competitive. There's a good chance coming out of this, you'll either be best friends or worst enemies with the people you came with. But me and my girlfriend as two people who always wanna win, still remain friendly. Until... Pushy Express. Match it with the picture first to win. Go! Ah, when you put here, you have to say Bon Appetit. Show camera first. Eh, how? None. Bon Appetit! I say Bon Appetit first. You didn't tell me how to play! I told you not! I told you just now! Ah, when you put here, you have to say Bon Appetit. Ah! How much is one plus one plus two? Four. What's two plus two? Bon Appetit! I did it first. I did it prettiest. Give it la, give it la. You just order and put here. Eh, eh, eh! Bon Appetit! I can see you about my size. Na, na, na. Ya, ya, ya, na, na, na. Ya, ya, ya. Bon Appetit! One. Bon Appetit! You didn't say I could not do ah? See also, you know you win eh. I get 53. After spending hours screaming and shouting, even trying all the other non-bord game stuff, we were hungry. I think most of the food here is like your Korean Instant Meal. Chicken Ganjong. This is sedap, it's like crispy chicken popcorn under that extra sticky sweet tteokbokki sauce. Wagyu Kimchi Fried Rice. Moist, kimchi heavy, but it's that deep warm sour you know, not sharp one. I don't taste much of the wagyu, but the kimchi. In my opinion, lose the wagyu make it cheaper because you don't feel it anyway. Cheese Shin Ramen. This is Korean Chintang, MSG with that thick soup from the cheese and that same deep kimchi flavour. Jjagechi. This one I don't like, felt like Buldak in your mouth but with that weird bitter beanie flavour. Buldak corn cheese. It's like my favourite Buldak with the friendly spice and that thick melty mouthful. But RM20 is just too much. Paling Mahanaman Pui! Imagine this as fruity fish except with the real texture and taste of fruits. Super fresh sweet fruits on top.
